Finland’s population reached 5,656,394 at the end of November 2025, according to preliminary data from Statistics Finland. The population increased by 20,423 during the period from January to November.
The growth came entirely from net migration. Finland recorded 46,856 arrivals from abroad and 14,057 departures, resulting in a net migration gain of 32,799 people.
Natural population change remained negative.
During the same period, 42,247 children were born and 53,831 people died, leaving a birth deficit of 11,584.
Immigration levels declined compared to the same period in 2024, with 12,939 fewer people moving to Finland. Emigration also decreased by 1,719.
The number of births increased slightly, with 1,905 more than the previous year. Deaths rose by 886.
Internal migration between Finnish municipalities totalled 267,647 from January to November. This was 181 more than during the same months in 2024, based on the 2025 municipal division.
