I was stationed there at Futenma in the in the early 90s, and the amount of chemicals we dumped down drains, the aircraft firefighting foam the Trichloroethane ect ect was just ridiculous. A bunch of guys I served with in the airwing are getting all sorts of cancers now mainly liver cancer. That shit is nasty and that base is fucked.

This reminds me of the water in Hawaii near a base having gasoline in it that got so bad there were reports of children getting burned from baths :/
There’s also another base in the US that had water issues I think in North Carolina? Not sure about that one…if anyone is military and can share please do!

The air base in Tucson, AZ polluted so much groundwater that at least 500 cancer patients are linked to it, over 30 wells closed and over $70 million cost to the city. The base is still undergoing lawsuits for it

Meanwhile the US just approved them to be in pesticides…

Sometimes I need to be reminded that, in a lot of places, the news just delivers…. the news.
