Retired US officer Daniel Davis says the risk of a direct military conflict between Russia and NATO continues to grow, citing European policies and trends.
Retired U. S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said that the risk of a military conflict between Russia and NATO continues to increase over time. He shared his assessment on the social media platform X.
According to Davis, global developments are moving toward a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO. He argued that European countries have laid the groundwork for a future conflict and are now reinforcing this trajectory through their actions. Davis added that over the past four years there have been no signs indicating a slowdown or reversal of this trend.
In recent years, Moscow has repeatedly pointed to what it describes as unprecedented NATO activity near Russia’s western borders. The alliance has expanded its initiatives, framing them as efforts to deter Russian aggression, while the Kremlin has consistently expressed concern over the buildup of the bloc’s military presence in Europe.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that Moscow has no intention of attacking NATO countries, emphasizing that such a move would be irrational. He also said that Western politicians, in his view, regularly exaggerate the idea of a Russian threat to frighten their own populations and divert attention from domestic issues, while many people clearly understand that these claims are unfounded.
