Monarchies were so afraid of France and its revolution

But it would not last, and today almost all european countries are democratic

  2. For a French it’s still quite the case. Don’t put a breton, a Parisian and a marseillais in the same room.

  3. Britain not taking Normandy confuses me as its actually a big opportunity to retake Normandy from France and reclaim the ancestral region of British monarchy

  4. If we’re insisting on showing French Guiana in modern maps of France, then we should include the Portuguese-Brazilian occupation of French Guiana.

  5. I don’t get why they didn’t made Brittany and Occitania independent. Those regions back then had their own language that was widely spoken.

  6. How the f*ck did Prussia get to occupy Paris?

Like yes occupation is on a practical level a very expensive and a kind of pointless task, but surely these egotistical great powers would care about who gets the prestige of occupying the enemy capital? Out of the European great powers, at the time Prussia was easily the weakest one, so by all logic they shouldn’t be getting the most prestigious occupation zone.

    Does anyone know?

  7. UK was really playing the long game with Belgium as a buffer zone between the French and Germans.

Certainly paid dividends 100 years later in both world wars.

I wonder how Baden and Württemberg managed to occupy this stretch of land in central France.
