According to information from the IPMA, the districts of Bragança, Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Viana do Castelo, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra, Portalegre and Braga are under a yellow warning due to the “persistence of low minimum temperature values”.
The exception is the localities near the coast, in the districts where this condition is applicable.
The Directorate-General of Health (DGS) warned earlier in the week about the precautions to take due to the cold weather, reminding that the drop in temperatures increases the risk of worsening chronic diseases and asking the population to protect themselves.
The DGS recommends that citizens avoid sudden changes in temperature, dress in layers, adjusting clothing to the environment, protect extremities with hats, gloves and warm socks, and wear non-slip shoes to avoid falls.
