Thinking for two seconds about how to improve the chart: make the bars two colored, one for main territory and one for over seas territories.

Take that British empire, signed France

A bit confused about Denmark.
I guess Faroe Islands and Greenland counts for Denmark as well?
But in that case it should be 6, according to wikipedia [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_in_the_Danish_Realm](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_in_the_Danish_Realm)

To note that France’s Clipperton Island (the only territory sitting at UTC-08:00) is not inhabited and disputed with Mexico.
How does New Zealand work? I was there for 5 weeks but didn’t see anything about time zones

France has 13 if you include its claim in Antarctica.

To be “beautiful data” it *really* should have a footnote on the visualization itself about including (recognized) overseas territories. Otherwise most people looking at it are going to immediately think to themselves “that can’t be right”.

“the USA is so small that even France has more timezones”
(my favorite is still “Texas is so small that the Unorganized Borough in Alaska is bigger”)

Mexico technically has six, as municipalities on the border have adopted the timezones on the US side to facilitate trade.

Oh…islands around the world owned by the country, was so confused at first
It’s a little known trivia fact, but France is indeed the country with the most time zones on the planet.
OP’s infographic mentions 12 time zones, which is still the most out of any other country, but France actually has 13 time zones counting the one in Terre Adélie (claims in Antarctica).
The sun truly never sets on the French Republic.
