Russia has issued a sharp travel warning advising its citizens to avoid Germany, citing alleged harassment, seizures, and humiliating treatment of Russians at German airports. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused German authorities of confiscating personal belongings and cash under EU sanctions rules, calling Germany a “lawless territory” for Russians. Moscow says multiple incidents, including cases involving ordinary travelers and public figures, show a pattern of abuse. German authorities have not publicly responded to the claims. The warning has sparked fresh diplomatic tension between Russia and Germany.
