Cloudy weather and strong winds are expected on Saturday, according to forecasts by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC).
In the morning, precipitation is expected in some places in the east, but during the day, precipitation is expected in many places in Latvia – rain, sleet, and snow in the east.
In the morning, there will be a moderate westerly wind, but during the day the wind will gradually shift to the northwest and intensify in many places to 15 to 18 metres per second, 20 to 23 metres per second on the coast, and up to 26 metres per second on the coast in the evening. The air will warm up to +2 to + 6 C.
Rīga will be mostly cloudy, but the sun will shine through the clouds at times. Rain is expected in the afternoon, with sleet in the evening.
In the morning, a moderate westerly wind will blow in Riīa, but during the day it will shift to the northwest and intensify to 20 to 22 meters per second in gusts. The maximum air temperature will be in the range of 4 to 5 degrees.
Forecasters have issued an orange alert for strong winds on Saturday and Sunday. The warning will be in effect from 11 a.m. on Saturday until 4 p.m. on Sunday.
On Saturday afternoon, northwesterly and northerly winds will intensify in the western and central regions, reaching 20 to 22 metres per second, while in the evening, wind gusts will reach 25 to 28 meters per second in coastal areas.
The wind will gradually begin to subside in the second half of Sunday, according to the LVĢMC forecast.
