Winter storm Johannes has cut off power to thousands of households in Sweden and Norway. In Sandviken, a man died after being hit by a branch, as the Swedish news agency TT reported. According to the report, wind speeds on the scale of a hurricane were measured in Sweden in the morning.

The frosty weather also led to numerous traffic disruptions and problems with ferry trips, as the news agency Ritzau reported. TT wrote that over half of Sweden was affected. 40,000 households were without electricity. Several train connections were canceled. Finland was also affected by the storm. The strong winds led to disruptions in air traffic, for example, and many households were also without power.
