How did you think they’re bringing Chick Fil E and Taco Bell here?
They’re pretty big in that part of the states

Applegreen actually run a lot of the service stations along the different turnpikes. NJTP, PA and NYSTA for definite, mainly along the East coast and some in Ohio & Indiana.
Edit to add: they’re all either recently been built/renovated or in plans to be done up as well.

Great to see our service station culture is spreading. The yanks will be hooked on chicken fillet rolls in no time.

I’d never heard of an Applegreen in America. That’s wild. And I was shocked when my local one got a mini Marks and Spencers inside.

I always wondered why it called Applegreen, but not green apple? It does not makes sense from grammatical point of view, and why applegreen, why not appleorange or applered? Someone ever thought about this?

We had a big scandal in Massachusetts recently where Applegreen was awarded a contract to redo our rest areas, an American company sued saying that they had a cheaper offer and it didn’t go through the full process they needed to. A bunch of local news outlets latched on yelling about giving money to a foreign company and eventually applegreen withdrew their bid

I’m in Doha right now and was astonished to see a Centra. It’s the only one outside Ireland apparently. I wonder if a Qatari who spent time in Ireland missed the deli so decided to bring it home.
I did go into the shop, it has tonnes of Irish products, a Frank & Honest café, and the deli counter which is something that I haven’t seen anywhere else here.
Edit: actually I lie, I looked it up and it turns out there’s a second one in another town just outside Doha.

Do they have local farm stuff as well. Say bag of mucky potatos, damp firewoed, calf nuts and GAA lotto tickets

No better place to enjoy overpriced greasy food in filthy surroundings.
I came across a Dunnes Stores when I was in Spain a few months ago, apparently there are a few of them there

Upstate New Yorker here. Unfortunately, it seems like most of us hate them. I hope Applegreen is better in Ireland, but the way these things went up along the interstates, it’s like they didn’t do any research into what people actually need in a highway rest stop, or how one functions. They demolished what appeared to be perfectly good Adirondack-looking structures for buildings smaller and less efficient people-flow wise.
