  1. My father used to have a pig farm and he used farrowing crates. The sow was put in it just before birthing then let out a couple of weeks after. My dad said it was a good method to stop piglets from being squashed as they were vulnerable to sow movements when they were trying to feed. He certainly didn’t see it as cruelty, he would not have done it if he had so I’m surprised by this banning.

  3. So does that make Jeremy Clarkson’s pig house thingy that he made (specifically to give the pigs room and prevent piglet squashing) going to catch on?

  4. I’m happy to see more pushes for welfare. I hope someday we can see animals for the individuals they are and stop exploiting them altogether.
