    Looks nice

Only in germany you got weirdos being repulsed by their own flag and trying to stop others from displaying it and putting labels on them for it. Don’t listen to these weird ass chronically online redditors.

Tell me you’re not german without telling me you’re not german 😭 we don’t do weird patriotism here

  3. “I love capitalism I wasted my money on a teddybär I’m going to throw away in a year, a canva and colour to make a ‘painting’ im never gonna display anywhere” fixed that for you 😍

  4. Thanks for normalizing the German Flag…
Unbelievable people connect the German flag with racism etc….

  5. Great that you found a place you love, but be careful with stuff like that. Some germans are a bit sensitive when it comes to patriotism and even stuff like this can make you appear like a right-wing extrimist to some.

You’re going to make the wrong kind of german friends with this kind of motivation. Patriotism is extremely stigmatized over here. Probably wrong, but I’d put you into this category: “I am not a Nazi, but […]” just because you are painting German flags for a hobby. It comes from experiencing this kind of behaviour only from people with very questionable views on the country. I wish it wasn’t like that, but your post sais that to me.

Patriotic behavior is viewed much different over here as most right wing parties practice it. The german flag is pretty much just celebrated when we have football cups.

I get this is not your intention, but just a word of warning as the people who celebrate our flag and see being german as something to be proud of are the ones who tend to swing more to the fascist side.

Edit: changed the wording to fit my view better.

  8. Don’t listen to these miserable people in the comments, good for you for loving a country and its language and sharing that with us here

  9. It gives “Ich liebe deutsche Land”

Fellow millennials and older folks will remember… And yeah, it’s a bit cringe tbh

  10. so you either love the germanic language, or “make love” how the germans do.

pro tip: at least learn the language before becoming creepily nationalistic for no reason.

  11. To be honest, I am not in the camp of people who mistrust any use of the flag outside of public buildings and pubic acts of elected representatives. I don’t mind people having flags displayed – if done in a more conscience and way. I neither like the nationalistic virtue signaling of plastering shit with flags as if it had no profound meaning or just blindly wave it around.

But I guess I am too much of a conservative to like the way a teddy bear of all things is plastered with the national flag, the symbol of national unity **and democracy** in Germany, being used as a cheap paint job on a cheap toy. It cheapens the symbol in my opinion.

That being said, in your last picture, the capital first letter is missing and “Deutsch” is German – the language – not Germany.

  12. Please don’t take these comments to heart, there is no issue in portraying the German flag, everyone does it during the football world championship and during European championship, some people have a little garden they rent (allotment garden?, Schrebergarten) where they portray the flag on a flagpost.

Yes it is often used by extremists and barely used by your average German on day to day life, but having been in contact with foreigners visiting and loving Germany, the likelihood of them liking the German flag or portraying it somewhere is much higher, it’s normal to be into this stuff when your into the country!

I find it dumb to say that germans hate themselfs just because the flag has a negative connotation.
Germans are very patriotic. You see that at football, any online event or something dumb like a discussion about bread and many more things. We don’t need flag for this.

As an immigrant its very sweet that you identify with us germans so much. But If you weare this in public they will think of you as farright.

If only afd politicians weare the flag and only Nazis hang it in there garden, then of course the flag will be connected with ultra-nationalism.
So the assumptions i make about a person are probanly correct.

Its not going to change. Thats how it is in Germany. And to everybody who finds it so tragic that they can’t hang a flag off their balcony: i don’t care.

  14. I never owned, waved, painted a German flag in my life and I am German. Your obsession with Germany feels awkward to me.

  15. Jesus Christ, the amount of idiotic, ignorant, miserable and arrogant comments to this post is baffling….please don’t take those to heart and know that not everyone in Germany is like that….while the flag-thing *is* kind of a topic here….people’s (not only German’s, of course) minds are often just unbelievably limited….it’s sad…
    Wish you all the best!
