Slovenia’s Domen Prevc put on an impeccable ski jumping display to clinch a commanding win at the Four Hills Tournament 2025/26 opener in Oberstdorf, Germany, on Monday (29 December).
The 26-year-old World Cup tour leader followed up his winning form from qualification by topping both rounds of the competition for a total of 316.7 points, finishing a clear 17.5 points ahead of current title holder Daniel Tschofenig in second, and Felix Hoffmann in third (-19.4).
Timi Zajc, who was initially tied for second with Tschofenig, was later disqualified for wearing an inappropriate suit.
Widely expected to do well owing to his current form, Prevc set the tone with a 141.5m first round jump for 162.2 points, before returning with a 140.0m effort, earning him 154.4 points in the second.
In victory, Prevc also becomes the first-ever Slovenian to win at the Oberstdorf stop.
“Today I really felt amazing, and I finally managed to get through the curse of Slovenians winning here,” Prevc told broadcasters in an interview after the event. “I’m super happy that we managed to do two really good jumps.”
The Slovenian’s sights will now turn to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where he will arrive for the second stop of the four-stage event with a comfortable cushion of points, and having extended his lead at the top of the World Cup standings.
The action will resume with qualification on Wednesday, 31 December.
