There were no fatal traffic accidents on Croatian roads last weekend, while police recorded a total of 3,317 traffic offences, the Ravnateljstvo policije announced on Monday.

Among the most serious violations, police registered 1,210 cases of speeding, 291 instances of driving under the influence of alcohol, 253 offences for not wearing a seatbelt, and 90 cases of illegal mobile phone use while driving.

The highest recorded speed was 225 km/h in the area covered by the Zadar Police Administration, while the highest blood alcohol level, measuring 2.7 promille, was recorded in the Zagreb Police Administration area.

Police also stopped 11 repeat offenders over the weekend, who committed an additional 11 serious violations. As a result, two drivers were detained, while nine others were subjected to expedited court proceedings, with police proposing the maximum possible penalties.
