Kaufland has rolled out its first-ever ‘Kaufland XS’ format store, located in Veselí nad Lužnicí, Czechia.
The store’s 2,245-square-metre sales area offers over 13,000 SKUs, including food, toiletries, and household goods.
It features service counters with fresh meat, cold cuts, cheeses, and delicatessen products, including products from Kaufland’s private label K-Mistři od fochu z Modletice! range.
The offering also includes a wide array of products from regional suppliers in South Bohemia, such as fresh cheeses, yoghurts, jams, and dried meats from local farmers.
Renata Maierl, spokesperson for Kaufland Czech Republic, explained the strategy, “The XS store format is a response to the needs of customers who prefer fast and convenient shopping near their home. Even in a smaller format, we maintain our standards of quality and variety of assortment, as well as the innovations in sustainability that our customers are used to.”
Sustainability and Convenience
Designed with a strong emphasis on sustainability, the Kaufland XS store incorporates energy-efficient LED lighting and utilises waste heat for climate control.
It is also the 11th Kaufland store in the country to participate in a pilot project for the national deposit system, accepting PET bottles and cans for recycling.
The checkout zone has eight self-service checkouts, complemented by the K-Scan service, allowing customers to use a mobile phone or a hand-held scanner for faster purchases. In addition, digital terminals provide quick access to product information, including ingredients and pricing.
Elsewhere, a car park with 173 spaces includes designated spots for disabled individuals and families, alongside electric vehicle charging stations.
