It is not popular to point out that asylum seekers and refugees who have not yet received a residence permit or have been refused a residence permit nevertheless enjoy the same human rights as the rest of us and should also be given the benefit of the doubt in relation to the government. There is only one party that has pointed that out repeatedly over the years, and it was thoroughly punished for it by the Icelandic public in the last election.
But despite the fact that it is unpopular, it still needs to be pointed out, especially now when the opinion that the government should be able to act as it wants towards asylum seekers and refugees is growing on the side of society.

Ég veit ekki alveg hvernig þetta þessar móttökustöðvar eru hugsaðar eða hannaðar, en það gengur ekki lengur að fólk sem bíða úrlausnar sem getur tekið 6 mánuði samkvæmt UNHCR sem er alveg fáranlega langur tími og á meðan eru þau í leigu íbúðum eða hvar sem þeir eru og með grunn uppihald í boði ríkisins.
Og svo eru einhverjir með brotavilja og neita að fara úr landi aftur og fela sig. Hvað er búið að hýsa marga á Hólmsheiði af því þeim var ekki treystandi til að fara sjálfviljugir?
Ég sé ekki hvernig þetta rugl kerfi hjálpar neinum og síst ekki borgurum landsins
