BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – Two people died in an explosion at a Pennsylvania long-term care facility last week, and that’s got people around the country questioning safety procedures at facilities in their communities.
Sanford Health’s many incident procedures vary by situation.
In the event of an emergency, the hospital would activate its incident management team, initiate a plan of communication and mobilize resources.
“We look at weather events and how they affect our operations, utility disruptions, is something that we have plans for,” said Facilities Director Brad Erickson. “Technology issues is more, more part of something that we planned for.”
A committee of people decides on emergency plans.
This group gets together and organizes assessments of the hospital’s safety procedures.
