Driving conditions remain hazardous in north
Many parts of Norway are continuing to see traffic disruptions related to the wintry weather as we approach New Year’s Eve.
These include a yellow weather alert in the region north of Dovre, related to snow and snowdrift risk.
Parts of central Norway are meanwhile subject to an orange alert due to a risk of avalanches.
Recent days have seen a high frequency of accidents on roads affected by the difficult conditions.

Oslo bus passenger detained with replica gun
Police in Oslo arrested on Tuesday evening an individual on board a bus after they were reported to have produced a firearm, broadcaster NRK reported.
“The suspect was arrested on board a bus” in the Carl Berner area, senior officer Bjarne Pedersen stated in a police log.
The individual, a 15-year-old boy, was carrying a replica pistol, police have confirmed.

Police had earlier responded in heavy numbers to reports that a pistol had been sighted.
The incident follows a shooting at a shopping centre in Oslo earlier this month in which serious casualties were averted.
Liberal leader’s X account hacked
The leader of the Liberal (Venstre) party, Guri Melby, recently fell victim to hackers who took over her X account, newspaper VG reports.
The account displayed the logo of company Flare Network and also published a number of posts relating to it.
Norway’s press authority NSM has been in touch with X to try to correct the issue, a spokesperson told VG.
