The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has extended his New Year 2026 greetings to Albanians from prison.
In a post on social media, Meta expressed his wish that 2026 would be a year of strong commitment toward a fairer Albania, where the law is applied equally to everyone.
“May 2026 be a year of great commitment toward a more just, more social, and more humane Albania, where the law is applied equally to all, and where freedoms and human dignity are sacred and fully respected,” he wrote.

“Happy New Year 2026!
Dear Albanian citizens,
From the bottom of my heart, I wish you a New Year filled with health, peace, joy, and prosperity for you, your families, and all your loved ones, wherever they may be.
With faith in our shared values and our eyes set on the future, let us welcome 2026 as a year of unity, civic courage, and the revival of hope. May this be a year that brings us closer together and gives us the strength to move forward, determined in the face of challenges.
May 2026 be a year of great commitment toward a more just, more social, and more humane Albania, where the law is applied equally to all, where freedoms and human dignity are sacred and fully respected.
A country where there is opportunity and hope for every citizen, and where every Albanian can live with dignity, security, and well-being in our beloved home, Albania — a country where the future is built on honesty, trust, and the rule of law.
Happy 2026 — the Year of Change, Freedom, and renewed Hope for all Albanians!”
