It’s officially 2026 in the UK, joining 150 other nations in the celebrations.
London is welcoming the new year with its traditional display of fireworks, lighting and music along the banks of the River Thames.
The 12-minute show begins with the familiar sounds of Big Ben’s chimes, before thousands of fireworks and hundreds of lights illuminate the night sky around the London Eye, set to a soundtrack.
In Scotland, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations are already under way, but the main midnight moment is taking place with thousands of fireworks above Edinburgh Castle.
There are 45,000 people gathered in the city centre to watch.
Celebrating the new year with us are Portugal, Ireland, Spain, Iceland, Guernsey and Cote d’Ivoire.
Add to that list Burkina Faso, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Togo, Liberia, Mali, Guinea, Mauritania, Saint Helena, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Sao Tome and Principe.
