As the clock struck midnight last night, Ireland’s first babies of the New Year were making their way into the world.
Among the first babies was at the Rotunda Hospital, where baby Elliott was born at 35 second past midnight, weighing 8lb 1oz to parents Rachel and Adam Deak, from Rathnew, Co Wicklow.
After Elliott’s rapid entrance into 2026, baby Laso, weighing 6lb 5oz, was born at 1.11am to parents Zilan Aziz and Halo Mohammed, from Dublin.
A baby girl, weighing 8lb 2oz, arrived around an hour later to Eanna Rennicks and Sean Tobin from Navan, Co Meath.

Baby Millie Elizabeth Kelleher came into the world at 40 seconds past midnight at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin.
Millie, weighing 6lb 6oz, was born to parents Sally and John Kelleher, from Naas Co Kildare,

Five babies were born at the National Maternity Hospital between midnight and 11am.
Baby Kash Burke was also one of the first babies born in 2026, arriving at just two minutes past midnight at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin.

Kash, weighing 8lb 5oz, is a second son for Rebecca and Keane from Dublin 8, and welcomed by big brother Klay.
In what was a busy start to the New Year at the hospital, baby Leo was born at 12.05am and weighing 8lb 1oz. He is the first child for Danielle McNamee and dad, Troy, who are from Lucan.

At Cork University Maternity Hospital, a baby girl called Frances O’Keeffe was born at 3.41am to parents Victoria Irwin and Cirroc O’Keefe.
At our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, a baby boy called Mustafa Mir weighing 7lb 5oz was the first baby born there at 2.29am to parents Ifrah Mir and Wahaj Butt.
