Eight new high-capacity stations in Latvia and first site in Marijampole mark major growth milestone.

Latvian fuel retailer Virši has significantly expanded its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure this year, installing eight new high-capacity stations across Latvia. At the end of December, the company also entered Lithuania with its first EV charging point at the Marijampole service station.

Total investments in the charging network reached €800,000. The new sites include 200 kW chargers at Viskaļi, Cēsis Saulrīti, and Kuldīga, a powerful 400 kW unit at Salacgrīva, and upgrades in Riga’s Satekle location, which now supports simultaneous charging for up to five vehicles.

Additional installations include a 40 kW station in Gulbene, the first public EV charger in the municipality, and a 240 kW unit in Sigulda. In Lithuania, Marijampole offers 160 kW and 40 kW charging capacities.

Demand for EV charging within the Virši network has more than doubled compared to 2024. “We are able to provide a full-service experience – while the vehicle is charging, customers can enjoy high-quality coffee and food,” said Anrijs Tukulis, Head of Sustainability and Energy Efficiency at Virši. He added that Virši offers multiple payment options, including app, bank cards, cash, and deposit vouchers.

As the market matures beyond state support programs, Virši expects service quality and convenience to become decisive factors for customer choice.
