Kosovo has made great progress under the leadership of Franco Foda and has the power to do something great, Rubin Kazan star Dardan Shabanhaxhaj stated in an exclusive interview with Telegrafi.
Shabanhaxhaj has become an undisputed fixture in Rubin Kazan’s lineup this season, making 23 appearances, contributing two goals and two assists.
The 24-year-old, in an interview with Telegrafi, says that hard work has helped him reach this point.
“Thanks to good health, constant work and maximum dedication, I have managed to be where I am today. Every step has been the result of sacrifice and belief in myself.”
Although the Kosovo player is in good form, Rubin Kazan is in the middle of the table. He admitted that the objective is always the title, but this time they only aim to finish the season in the top five.
“The team’s goals are clear: the Russian Premier League. However, as Rubin Kazan, our realistic and short-term objective is to finish in the top five and build a competitive team for the future.”

In addition to Shabanhaxhaj, Rubin Kazan also features Kosovo midfielder Veldin Hoxha and Albanian striker Mirlind Daku.
Asked how things are going with them, Shabanhaxhaj stated that they are trying to help Veldin learn the Albanian language as best as possible.
“It is definitely a very good feeling to have Albanians around you, and fortunately there are three of us. As for communication, we constantly try with Veldin and he shows a great desire to learn the Albanian language.”

“We spend a lot of time together, especially in hotels and while traveling, which makes this process even easier and strengthens the bond between us.”
Shabanhaxhaj renewed with Rubin Kazan at the end of November despite various offers, but confirmed that he wants to change championships in the near future.
“Yes, there were several offers, including one from Cyprus. However, they did not meet the conditions and vision that Rubin Kazan offers, especially in terms of professional and material terms.”
“The desire for a new step has always been present, but I remain hopeful and confident that the right moment will soon come for a new commitment, where I can give my best.”

Shabanhaxhaj has represented Austria at the international level, but is eligible to play for Kosovo or Albania, as he has only played in the U21 age group.
He gave great praise for the strengthening of Kosovo under Foda’s leadership, while believing that the “Dardans” can qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
“Like every athlete and citizen, I have followed both the Albanian and Kosovo national teams closely. However, my heart stops at Kosovo.”
“Franco Foda has created a very positive climate within the team and the talent that Kosovo possesses is unquestionable. This was also proven in the World Cup qualifiers, where the progress and path we have taken are clearly visible.”

“Play-offs? Even though the last two games are very difficult, I strongly believe that the team has the potential to do something great.”
Shabanhaxhaj admitted that he is open to representing any national team, but first he needs to perform well with Rubin Kazan.
“Honestly, I am very focused on the start of the spring season and my performance with Rubin Kazan. I believe that my performances will speak for themselves and then it is up to any Federation to invite me, of course my desire is great,” he concluded for the Telegraph.

Otherwise, Shabanhaxhaj knows what it’s like to wear the Kosovo jersey, as he was part of the U16 age group./Telegraph
