The drone show that was planned as a grand spectacle to celebrate the New Year in the sky above Budva’s Old Town ended in a memorable way, but not as expected.
During the performance that was supposed to light up the night of the new year, a technical problem occurred, due to which the drones began to fall one after another in front of many citizens gathered there. About 600 drones fell into the sea and on the platforms in front of the Port Authority, while the footage of this moment was quickly shared on social networks.
Budva police confirmed that they have conducted an investigation at the scene and have informed the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor about the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured. According to unofficial information, material damage could reach hundreds of thousands of euros.
This drone show was preceded by a fireworks display, but the exact reason for the malfunction that caused the massive fall of technological equipment is still unknown. Local authorities, including the Tourist Organizations and the Municipality of Budva, have not provided official explanations for the causes of the incident, reports vijesti.me.
According to Montenegrin media, some claim that the possibility of interference from signal-blocking devices is not ruled out, but these claims have not yet been confirmed. The drone show, which was supposed to be one of the highlights of the New Year’s celebrations in Budva, ended in disappointment for the public and the organizers.
In the end, the drones rose to a height of several dozen meters before starting to fall uncontrollably to the ground and into the sea – a scene that, according to witnesses, only fortunately passed without serious consequences for people. /Telegraph/
