  1. And yet prices are not dropping to match the lower demand. I’d love to buy an EV, but it’s hard to justify buying one when it costs more than every car I’ve owned put together.

I want an EV, I want everyone to have an EV but no province in Canada has put the effort in to create enough charging infrastructure to make it practical.

Unless you own a house where you can install your own charger, it’s not even practical for your daily commute/city driving.

I’d love an EV. But I refuse to take out a loan on anything that isn’t a house, and I’m not gonna drop like $50-60k on one. Bring in the BYDs and let’s get some $20-30k EVs and I’m down.

  4. what are the numbers on sales of gas powered cars? my guess is canadians are buying less cars in general and keeping their old ones for longer

  5. It would be interesting to see the proportion of that 32% that was/would have been Tesla sales after the Muskrats fuckery

  6. The costs are the big factors. That being said I’ve been seeing a ton of Hyundai Ioniq 5s lately so certain models seem to be doing better than others.

  7. I’m in the market for a PHEV. As a 1 car household, I’d love a car that can handle my 70km (round trip) commute as an EV, but still have the option to bug out into the mountains for a camping/ski trip without having to worry.

The new RAV4 PHEV looks promising but we’ll see if it’s actually available.
