We’ll find them, and then do fuck all because we have no ships, subs or personnel.

  2. Good & fuck Russia. About time now we manned the fuck up & joined NATO which every sane person knows is a DEFENSIVE alliance & which 99% of Europe is a part of. How is it defensive, it’s really simple, you join & you are in under the umbrella, Russia doesn’t like it as the Eastern Nations that are in it now use modern western superior weaponry & where once Russia had an eye on them they can’t anymore. Cry harder Russia. Also we don’t need a huge military to be a part of NATO, Iceland has no military & is a member & enjoys the security it brings. Ireland is situated at a very strategic part of Europe, essentially the last stepping stone before crossing the Atlantic, like it or not our geographical position is hugely important.

Did they see the ikea socal sale. I got a sweet deal on an advanced vision system.

And these undersea drones will give the submarines a look of disapproval and maybe a talking to

  5. Good news, exactly the type of capability the defence forces need. Personally I’m less concerned about data cables and more concerned about the gas lines and electricity interconnectors we have.

Ah sure, we’ll detect ‘em. We’ll detect ‘em so hard that they’ll wish they’d never entered Irish waters. And then when we’re done detecting ‘em, we’ll detect ‘em some more, just for good measure.

  7. When the drones detect any enemy subs they send an automated repeated warning message to it “look it lads, yee can’t be doin dat”

  8. Leave it to this sub to have people mad that we actually want to defend ourselves. Its great, we want our independence but hate the thought of being able to defend it

  9. Looking forward to Paul Murphy explaining how this is the beginning of Ireland’s descent into fascism.

Meanwhile, the tracking of migratory birds and native fauna, much of which is still little understood, is done by volunteers and in some cases a single  individuals doing it in their free time.

Because who gives a fuck about nature and the eco system?

No money for that. It’s not important enough.

  11. The only true enemies that Ireland has is British imperialism and its unmitigated colonial legacy.

  12. Nothing but strawmen in this comment section saying people against this even the typical jav at Paul Murphy hilarious! The only people up send here are the one saying this doesn’t go far enough that we need 12 warships when we can’t even man 2.
The current government plant is already exactly what we need we’re getting new radar and sonar systems the only thing further would be air and sea drones that’s the real answer to our defense like the Ukrainians used to the destroy the Russian warships when they don’t even have a navy! But no we neeeed 50 WARSHIPS THAT THE ONLY WAY TO PROTECT THE CABLES EEEEEEEE.

  13. That’s all okay but what are they going to do when they detect a Russian submarine? How can Ireland stop them or track them afterwards.

  14. Using tech to secure things makes a lot of sense. It’s like having a house alarm.

America has a system of undersea buoys that detects all this already, if a Russian submariner farts in Vladivostock they know about it. Can’t we just ask them to share the info. ??

And when they’re detected, we shall do nothing about it. No anti-submarine assets on the drawing board.

  17. Aka join nato.

Only Austria (constitutional ban since ww2) , Cyprus, Malta and Ireland resisting nato in the EU.

    More bolloxology

  18. If you are an ‘undersea tracker’ what’s the difference between a ‘hostile’ and ‘non-hostile’ submarine ?
