The Jaguars found their offensive rhythm in their second game of the tournament, pulling away from John Carroll Catholic with balanced scoring and strong perimeter shooting.
Spain Park led wire-to-wire, outscoring the Cavaliers in every quarter and shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Jaguars also capitalized at the free-throw line, converting 17 of 23 attempts.
Hunter paced the offense with 16 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Teagan Huey added 15 points and seven rebounds. Smith chipped in eight points and three steals, and Nylah Calhoun added seven points with two assists.
Spain Park also took advantage of turnovers, scoring 22 points off John Carroll mistakes.
The Jaguars capped the Jag Challenge with another defensive effort, holding Sylacauga to 30 points and controlling the game through ball movement and interior scoring.
Spain Park led 27-16 after three quarters and withstood a late Aggies push in the fourth. The Jaguars assisted on eight baskets and committed just 11 turnovers in the win.
Calhoun led the way with eight points and five assists, while Hunter added 10 points and four rebounds. Huey recorded six points, five rebounds and two steals, and Bryant added five points.
The Jaguars will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 6, when Spain Park travels to Helena looking to build on their momentum from the unbeaten tournament run.
