So corporate bailouts stay easy, but students get punished for trying to get an education. Priorities couldn’t be clearer.

China did a deal with Trump to gain a guarantee of 700k+ per year of university placements for Chinese students to study in the US. Making it unaffordable for American students just frees up more spots for him to sell to foreign students. Everything is for sale under Trump.

“Biden promised to forgive student loans but my loan wasn’t forgiven, both sides are the same!” – assholes that didn’t vote or that voted third party

Pretty high chance this causes my wife and me to leave the country forever. Enjoy the brain drain.

  5. I can’t think of a single thing that guy has done in all of his years as president that I actually agree with. You’d think there would be the occasional nugget, but, no, nothing.

  6. Insane amount of Russian Trump bots brigading this thread. This is part of the Big Beautiful Bill. Between the health insurance changes, the crumbling economy, and now this: the middle class is about to be crushed. I genuinely don’t know how my family is going to survive.

  7. The only good thing Trump has done for me is taking legal action to end the SAVE plan. That resulted in my loan getting an administrative deferment for a couple years. Now I have a little more time to prepare for making payments that went up 900% from what they were before…

Starting July 2026, the federal student loan world is getting a big reset: most of the old income-driven repayment plans (including SAVE) are being phased out and replaced wit just a standard plan + a new Repayment Assistance Plan (
RAP), which lasts up to 30 years before forgiveness. Plus, Grad PLUS is gone and borrowing caps kick in.

  9. We really need to interview all the people that were loudest about how they couldn’t vote for Kamala Harris because of Gaza and ask them what they think now.

Because Black people warned so many on here what would happen if Trump won….including what would happen to Gaza…..and ALL our warnings turned out to be true.

The “sweeping student-loan changes” aren’t just minor tweaks, they overhaul repayment structure, kill the grad PLUS program for new loans, put yearly and lifetime caps on borrowing, and shift many borrowers toward longer, less generous repayment tracks starting next year.

All Trump and conservatives want to do is take things away and make regular people suffer. For their own profit.

When you take out a loan with the understanding of the payment structure, it’s completely fucked up to change it on people.

  13. My wife and I are 12 months from PSLF…. We worked 9 years towards loan forgiveness as nonprofit hospitals and are going to get fucked right out of it… god damnit

I guess he’s taking out his dementia-fueled anger on college students since they’re usually too old for him to rape? Is that it?

Edit: To be clear, the person the majority of voters elected to the highest office in the country is a pedophile.

  15. This is a direct fuck you to college students.

From a college student, from the bottom of my heart, Fuck you Donald Trump.

  16. The Trump administration’s policies all seem to hurt Millennials, who represent the largest generational voting bloc in the country. Would he be doing this if he intended to have free and fair elections in 2026 and 2028?

  17. > In addition to new repayment plans, Trump’s spending legislation eliminated the Grad PLUS program, which allowed graduate and professional students to borrow up to the full cost of attendance for their programs.

    > It also implemented new borrowing caps for borrowers seeking advanced degrees. Graduate students would have a cap of $20,500 a year or $100,000 over a lifetime, and professional students would have a cap of $50,000 a year and $200,000 over a lifetime

Keep in mind this change is what is currently fucking over incoming & future medical students from lower income & middle class backgrounds from attending school and is sending financial aid offices in a frenzy. This is a massive change out of the blue.

Medical school is easily more expensive than 50k a year (the new cap). That barely, or doesn’t even, cover tuition in a lot of circumstances and would rarely cover COA.

Best part is that this is basically a giant fuck you to these students that put in a tremendous amount of work to get where they are for zero reason. *There is no good justification for this policy, at least towards medicine. Medical schools aren’t farming tuition for profit, it’s just extremely expensive to run a medical school & COA is high because students literally cannot work during school.*

Trump has never made a good financial decision his whole life. He’s not about to start now. All student debt should be cleared and be paid for entirely by the top earning corporations.

This obviously makes America great again.

Do the poor people in rural America think he’s ever going to lower their taxes, healthcare costs, education costs, general cost of existence?

  20. SnooPuppers3957 on

I was considering going into medicine, but no longer. We’re already lacking enough personnel, now we’re fucked.

  21. I don’t know if there are any Trump supporters or defenders here, but I would love if one of them could tell me one good, tangible “win” this administration has delivered for regular working people. Something that obviously improves the lives of working people.

  22. This was swept under the rug so well, I don’t believe many people even knew about it.

These changes will make the pursuit of higher education very difficult for low income students no matter their background.

  23. Yea I’m not paying shit. I don’t think the IRS in its current barebones state is even capable of garnishing my wages.

I signed a contract on how I planned to repay my loans (SAVE Plan). I bought a house, a car, etc after budgeting in my monthly student loan payments. Now they wanna pull this shit and throw a wrench into my monthly budget that I very responsibly planned out and could easily afford before? Did everything right and am still getting fucked over.

If they can breach their side of the contract, then why the fuck can’t I just stop paying and breach my side of the agreement to pay the loans back period? Apparently it’s okay to not honor contracts anymore, so fuck em.
