OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – The last weekend before winter break ends brings a familiar challenge for parents: cabin fever. This season, new indoor event centers are making it easier for families to get their energy out.
At Andretti Indoor Carting and Games, the line wrapped around the whole front lobby not long after they opened.
“You can kind of spend the whole day up here if you really wanted to,” JM Angotti said when visiting with his three kids.

Games and racing gave Angotti a much-needed break from chaos at home.
“They were getting restless,” Angotti said. “Yesterday, they were wrestling and you could tell they were going stark crazy and had to get out of the house. Cabin fever is an understatement.”
Go-karts and mini golf provide winter alternatives
At Andretti, anyone as young as four can hop behind the wheel. For less thrill seekers, Tap In’s at the Greenhouse offers 19 holes of indoor mini golf.

“I’m having a super fun time, and I’m really excited to come out and let my energy out,” Quinn Crump said.
“It’s super fun that we get to come and just let out our energy,” Lucy Stivicevice said.
More event space without the bitter cold ruining the fun is the goal of the owners of each business this time of year.

“Here at Andretti everyone has a way to have fun and get involved in something that we have here,” Michael Lewis, Andretti Indoor Karting and Games marketing specialist, said.
“We wanted to bring outdoor mini-golf to the indoors and that’s where we came up with the greenhouse to solve that issue,” Ryan Patton, Tap Ins at the Greenhouse co-owner, said. “Be active but still have the climate control.”
Both Andretti Indoor Karting and Games and Tap Ins at the Greenhouse take reservations for big parties and offer drinks and hot food. Both locations open at 11 a.m. during the week with Tap Ins closing at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Andretti remains open from 10 a.m. until 1 a.m. on weekends.
