This is what the greens want. To price people out of cars
Picking any two points for comparing fuel prices can give you a massive range of results, and let you construct lots of different narratives.
For example, average price of unleaded per L:
December 2019 – 141.7
December 2020 – 127.3
December 2021 – 172.5
November 2025 – 174.0
So, basically, 5 year increase is huge, 4 year increase is minimal, 6 year increase is somewhere in between.
I wouldn’t mind if they had decent public transport instead of just constantly taxing us and doing nothing!
Crude oil running at a low price 59 dollars a barrel….. we are being fleeced… wait till crude goes up.
Half the price of fuel is tax, wonder how much it affects the economy since fuel is essential to almost everything
Rather than helping us our government is making life much more expensive. These taxes have a knock on affect on everything and they plan for many more increases to carbon taxes
19 more for A TANK. But the same tank back then drove you further while giving more explosive power! Now its an washed down gurgling water ! So this comparison is flawed. Back then full tank i could drive happily 1k km and have a little bit left with the fuel light coming on…. Now computer may say 900km range but actually end up doing circa 700km and fuel light is just about to come on.
Brent oil prices:
– 2015: USD 52.32, EUR 47.20
– 2016: USD 43.67, EUR 39.48
– 2017: USD 54.25, EUR 48.10
**- 2018: USD 71.34, EUR 60.48**
– 2019: USD 64.30, EUR 57.41
– **2020: USD 41.96, EUR 36.79**
– 2021: USD 70.86, EUR 59.92
– 2022: USD 100.93, EUR 95.99
– 2023: USD 82.49, EUR 76.24
– 2024: USD 80.53, EUR 74.43
**- 2025: USD 71.30, EUR 63.19**
(Automatic extraction, but I gave it a quick check and seems to be good data, I hope)

2020 was an outlier because of the pandemic though.
If you’re near the border, petrol is around £1.24/€1.43 per litre near me in Fermanagh. Roughly 20% cheaper than in Ireland.
