    >Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says the government does not recognize “any legitimacy of the Maduro regime.”

    >“In keeping with our long-standing commitment to upholding the rule of law and democracy, Canada calls on all parties to respect international law and we stand by the people of Venezuela and their desire to live in a peaceful and democratic society.”

Expecting to see some disappointed responses here. For many, especially on Reddit, our only foreign policy goal should be anti-Americanism.

Holy cow, this IS NOT what I expected to see!

This leaves me with a bit of excitement and hope for their future.

  4. The fascist leader of the US will not stop. Greenland, Nigeria and Canada are in his list. He’s a terrorist

  5. A lot of people seem to have a hard time grasping this so let’s spell it out.

It’s not okay to do illegal things just to people you don’t like.

Trump is a global terrorist at this point, and he is illegally waging war without congressional approval.

All of these things are illegal.  And cheering it happening to people you don’t like doesn’t mean it’s okay.

For people who claim to be conservatives they really don’t seem to give a fuck about laws.

This is something that I’d to be done. Venezuela has been destabilizing the South American continent for decades with how it weaponized refugees. Hopefully now South America can heal with regime change in Venezuela.

The us never has and never will uphold international law. They are and always will be murdering gangsters until they are stopped by someone

Weird, Canada doesn’t recognize him as president, yet they do when they talk about him. We should have a term for illegitimate presidents that are technically in power, but not recognized.

    Almost like, criminals.

(Not at all condoning the US capturing him)

  9. WTI under $60 a barrel. Demand is greater than Supply.

R/Canada: this is all about US stealing oil.

At the same time, the other half of Reddit is cheering lower oil price will collapse Russian economy and end the war in Ukraine.

  10. Canada is literally next door to the states and we have massive oil reserves. He has threatened our sovereignty countless number of times – what a pathetic response from Anand and devoid of any sense of the delicate and precarious nature of the current context.

  11. 55+ wars going on in the world right now and Canada cares about this one because…? Like the others aren’t important? How do they choose which ones they wanna get involved in, and why?

We have a bunch of nutless monkeys in our government. I expected nothing less from these bottom feeders

Actually based, especially after their 2024 election was stolen from them

  14. Canada loves the “all parties” line, whether our allies are unlawfully invading a country and kidnapping leaders in South America, or building illegal settlements and mass murdering children and journalists in the Middle East

  15. Carney had better beef up security, Trump and his terrorist entourage are completely out of control. Anyrhing’s possible now.

  16. Venezuelans are celebrating but on reddit I’m being told this is bad. Classic reddit.

When we let Israel break international law, we all implicitly agreed it doesn’t matter.

  18. What is to stop the US from doing the same to Canada under the guise of drugs flowing across the border?

The people of Venezuela are happy and finally free. Hopefully there’s little civilians casualties, and regime change can be done effectively.

Just wanna add you can hate Trump, but still think some of his actions were good.

  20. At a time our economy is experiencing a rebound, and Venezuela’s oil is no longer consumed by the US, then Trump strikes again.

Guess It’s time for the federal government to engage in negotiations with FNs and build that pipeline to other markets. This should be considered an urgent matter.

    >Pierre Poilievre

    >Congratulations to President Trump on successfully arresting narco-terrorist and socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro, who should live out his days in prison.

    >The legitimate winner of the most recent Venezuelan elections, Edmundo González, should take office along with the courageous hero and voice of the Venezuelan people, María Corina Machado.

    >Down with socialism. Long live freedom.

The US doesn’t care what Canada thinks about international law.

The US is now a rogue state, they are fully embracing their real identity.
