  1. It’s a TAE socket and it’s taped because the wall was recently painted by someone who didn’t give a shit to do it properly.

  2. I feel a little silly for not knowing what it is but that tape is just masking tape. Likely used so you can paint more freely without getting paint on the socket.

  3. Taped to protect from paint while painting walls and this is a phone socket. Used for dsl and glass fiber internet.

    Edit: you can remove paint.

Previous tenants probably painted the walls and forgot to take off the masking tape afterwards.

  5. That’s a TAE socket for a landline telephone and maybe your DSL internet connection.

It’s taped to protect it while painting the walls.

it’s called a “TAE-Dose”. Used to connect analog phones in earlier times, or DSL modems more recently.

The tape is probably because someone painted the wall and wanted to keep the TAE paint-free.

Someone forgot to remove the tape after painting the walls.
It’s a nowadays mostly obsolete socket for landline telephones.

That tells you the painter was not a professional and now you don’t have to hire a professional either when you move out, just match what you found when you moved in. 🙂

You aren’t required to do anything more than what you were given in regards to painting. So take pictures in good light of everything.

  9. It‘s the telephone/DSL landline socket. It has been covered most likely due to renovating works (preventing of paint residues) which took place before your move in.

  10. tell me you’re genz without telling me that you’re genz…😅
i cant tell you why it was left taped (probably fogotten after painting), but i can tell you what it is:

its a socket that was used for landline telephones and/or old modems (56k up to isdn if i remember correctly).

    totally obsolete by now.

What I do not understand why you tape the socket and do not screw it off before painting the wall… Makes no sense for me.

These are magnetic energy band aids, that will accelerate your Internet. Don’t touch them !

  13. A socket for F-plugs. Formerly used for landline telephones and also used to serve as access to the Internet

  14. This is a TAE Socket (Landline phone / DSL) Teilnehmer Anschluss Einheit, Telekom abbreviations are beautiful. It contains a KuDa (KupferDoppelader /2 copper wires) from your homes ALP (Auflagepunkt).
