Turkey urges restraint in Venezuela to protect regional security

Turkey urged all parties involved in the events in Venezuela to exercise restraint so that the current situation does not affect regional and international security.

In a corresponding statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of stability, peace, and the welfare of the Venezuelan people.

“We are closely monitoring the latest developments in Venezuela. Turkey attaches importance to the stability of Venezuela, the peace and welfare of the Venezuelan people. We call on all parties to exercise restraint so that the current situation does not have negative consequences for regional and international security.”

The document also notes that Ankara is ready to offer its constructive contribution to solving the crisis in Venezuela within the framework of international law.

Moreover, the Turkish embassy in Caracas continues to maintain continuous contact and coordination with Turkish citizens who are in Venezuela.

It is also noted that Turkey maintains open diplomacy and is ready to work with partners for stability in the region.

According to media reports, Saturday morning, January 3, brought reports of explosions in the capital Caracas. Later, statements from the United States spoke of a wide-scale strike against Venezuela, and there were reports that President Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been detained and flown out of the country.
