
From 2024 August 15 15min began to systematically share the story of Turkish Airlines Flight 981, the tragic plane crash that took place in 1974. on March 3, when 346 people died due to improperly locked doors. It is one of the worst aviation accidents in history. However, what 15min does is not respect for the victims, not education, not historical context. This is cynical clique milking.
In less than half a year – 24 times. This week alone – 5 times. Such intensity no longer reflects awareness. This is content exploitation. And it doesn’t happen anytime – but during the holiday season, when people travel, when airports are full, when anxiety about the safety of loved ones is at its peak. 15min knows exactly what he is doing. They play with fear. They play with emotions. They play with pain.
You read the headline – it seems like the disaster happened yesterday. But that was 52 years ago. And still, the same text, the same picture, the same message, repeated over and over again. Without context. No date. Without responsibility. This is no longer information. This is not journalism anymore. This is content exploitation.
It’s a shame. It’s a shame that such methods are becoming the norm. It’s a shame that the editorial board allows itself to behave like this. It’s a shame that pain becomes a strategy. And if it is a conscious content model, the editor-in-chief must be responsible for it. Because when the media chooses fear instead of truth, emotional blackmail instead of respect, we have the right to ask: is this still journalism?
People’s pain should not be the source of cliques. If the editors don’t understand it, maybe it’s time to remind them. Maybe it’s time to say out loud that this practice is unacceptable. Because when the media loses its backbone, the public loses its trust.

Nesitikėjau iš 15 min, bet ir tuo pačiu nesistebiu. Ir nieko, bus ir 30tas kartas ir 40tas 😀
Nenormalu, kaip ir nenormalu buvo prieš n metų naujienas paywall’inti. Nuo tada ten nesilankau, ir tamstai rekomenduoju nesivarginti.

Pritariu tau, bet pagalvojau ir kita dalyka, kur cia suo pakastas su tais kurie neironiskai skaito tokias besikartojancias “naujienas”? Ar tai tiesiog bukoji tamsuomene? Ar is tikro tai ka cia matome, yra tamsiosios nubukintos visuomenes kurimas, formavimas?
