  1. Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has said the whereabouts of Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores are unknown and have demanded “immediate proof of life” from the U.S. According to reports from Venezuela, multiple sites in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira as well as the capital district of Caracas have been hit. Casualties and damage to military infrastructure are still unclear at this time.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says he anticipates no further action in Venezuela following the capture of Maduro. It has been reported that the U.S. sent Delta Force into the Venezuelan capital to extract the sitting President without the use of conventional ground forces.

Best news of the decade, what a start of the year, 27 years of chavist dictatorships came to an end

  3. Time for Ukrainian SOF to capture Putin as well then, since abducting a president is okay. Both are in the same category of elections legitimacy as well.

  4. I’m old enough to recall the strikes and invasion of Panama– simultaneous strikes throughout the nation designed to spread fear and eliminate all response that was not widely reported until a year later.

War is terror no matter the side. And when America’s use of force doesn’t pause or bother to accurately count the number of its enemy’s casualties, America is conducting terrorism. See Iraq.

I guess I’d rather see Machado as legitimate president, but I still wonder: An attack on Putin’s residency is apparently not ok…

Great news! Finally this scumbag will get what he deserves! Unfortunately, likely not much will change, especially considering how previous US interventions went, expect for American companies taking all the oil of course.

This is really going to be the Idiots’ Iraq War. They had all of the smartest neo-con ghouls in the world planning the Iraq War and it devolved into the seminal tragedy of the first quarter of the 21st Century. Now they have ‘smartest’ used cars salesmen and internet grifters planning this one. Its going to be a clusterfuck

  8. I don’t understand what’s going on in r/asklatinamerica , I get that he should get overthrown in a popular revolt, but so do a ton of other dictators. Hell, Saddam should’ve been but no one’s saying that the actions of the US were justified there, so why are people suddenly defending this? Is he really more evil than every other dictator to warrant foreign intervention in the 21st century?

  9. Reddit in shambles trying to explain why they are upset that their imagined dictator captured an actual dictator after crying for years he hadn’t captured a different dictator.

While Maduro was an awful leader, this military operation was an unjustified power grab.

  11. F*ck Maduro. I hope he rots in hell. Venezuela has been suffering for a long time because of this fucker. I hope Venezuela will thrive and Venezuelans have a happy life.

  12. What a shame, a real disgrace. Trump and the US think they own the world and capture leaders to plunder the captured country. Nobody does anything. Things are going badly…

  13. Great news for the Venezuelan people. It’s sad and hilarious watching reddit fall over itself to defend a tyrant that murders protestors and riggs his country’s elections. I don’t even like Trump, but “orange man bad” is such a dumb reason to be upset over this news.

Venezuelan’s seem quite happy about this, parading in the streets wearing MAGA hats and waving flags – equivalent to a new Independence Day. Why are so many on this thread whining and crying?

  15. another day, another US military kidnapping. I wonder if any of the unnamed people who had to be taken with him in order to keep secret some of their clandestine actions will ever know their own names again

  16. Same thing happened to Putin and Netanyahu; right before they were to be indicted they invade other countries for their own profit. Putin to control the gas lines into Europe, Netanyahu to control Gaza. Trump is doing this to deflect from the Epstein files and (he has already tripled his net worth) sell out to the oil companies who bought him out. Congress is bought out so they do nothing. We no longer have balance of power in the United States.
