According to Publituris, Gago de Coutinho Airport will close 2025 with the highest result, in terms of passenger numbers, of all time, having exceeded the 10 million passenger mark, which represents a 6% growth compared to the same period last year.

Strengthened International Connectivity

In 2025, the offer of destinations was reinforced, with the opening of routes to the United States of America, Finland, Iceland, Madeira, Latvia and Poland. Routes to Berlin, Bournemouth, London-Luton, and London-Southend have also been strengthened. Routes to Amsterdam have also been reinforced, and four new airlines have started operating at the Algarve airport.

Currently, Faro Airport is connected to 22 countries and 77 destinations.

Main markets

Almost half of the passengers arriving at Gago de Coutinho Airport (46%) come from the United Kingdom, followed by German, Irish, French, and Dutch passengers.

In a press release, quoted by Publituris, Thierry Ligonnière, CEO of ANA|VINCI Airports, stated that this result “reflects the confidence of passengers, partners, the community, and airlines, as well as the commitment of our teams,” to ensure that “we will continue to invest in connecting the Algarve to the world with an ambitious sustainability strategy to ensure that the future is as promising as this present.”
