“A man who represents himself, has a fool for a client.”
Some things never change.
Law Societies have rules on AI. They need to be followed. Larger firms may have access to specialized AI programs but ChatGPT is not a reliable source of information.
I dont really blame people using it when they fall into the camp where they cant afford a lawyer. While also making too much for stuff like legal aid, which leaves them shit out of luck. As I would assume that it is confusing to navigate something complex as law. While there is a tool that appears to provide easy help.
The issue is that most people can’t afford lawyers when they need one. The whole legal aid program is setup so the lawyers can get away with continuing to charge absurd rates. Even if a person uses AI, gets stuck with the fees for the errors from the AI it’s still likely cheaper than actual getting their own lawyer. And the AI does give people a decent chance in court, who would be at the mercy of the court and the other lawyers.
