  1. Hard to believe it’s been 40 years his voice still feels alive every time it is played in a pub.

  2. I can vaguely remeber my dad and brother talking about it, and seeing something on the news.

Would have been ten at the time.

Funny the things that stick with you dispite how long ago they were.

  3. I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. I was 17.

Still a huge fan and still miss him. I always wonder what might have been.

    RIP Philo you legend.

  4. Dancing in the Moonlight and King’s Call are two songs I adore for their sick basslines. One simplistic, the other very complicated. Both impactful. I’ve no idea how he was able to do the latter while whacked out on heroin.

    RIP Philo you legend.

  5. For a second there I thought that was a statue.

I was too young to remember the fateful day but the unveiling of his statue outside Bruxelles was definitely a moment I won’t forget.

I saw him play on one of his last ever stage performance, when he came on for an encore at a Gary Moore concert. They played Out In The Fields and Parisienne Walkways. Hammersmith Odeon 28/9/85. It’s a great memory.

  7. I saw them at the RDS on the Thunder and Lightning album tour. I remember thinking it wasn’t great. Must have been summer of 83. Must have been a hard time, ideas running out and drug/ lifestyle issues mounting
