The Evzoni border crossing, the main traffic corridor between Macedonia and Greece, was closed again yesterday to all types of vehicles due to blockades by Greek farmers.

These protests have caused further disruption to international traffic and major delays for passengers, tourists and transport operators.

Evzoni was completely closed to traffic from 17:00 to 21:00 Macedonian time (18:00–22:00 local Greek time).

This is a continuation of the protests that farmers have organized with numerous four-hour blockades, which have periodically slowed traffic at this key crossing point for several weeks, a blockade that has been warned for today as well.

Greek farmers are continuing their blockades as part of national protests against delayed and reduced subsidies, high production costs and other economic pressures on the agricultural sector.

They have been organizing protests since December, including blockades of important traffic arteries and border crossings with neighboring countries.
