Alex does his careful balancing act again. Only thing that’s missing is “kolme pointtia…”

So everyone is kinda ignoring the obvious thing that the transition to a new government is not going to be democratic. The US will put somebody in charge whom the US can control for their best interest.
It’s not going to be anyone lawfully and democratically elected by the local population.

  3. Yeah, Alex. Do you support larger countries’ military interventions in less powerful neighbors, in order to support their domestic political goals?

I know it’s a hard question, but really think about it. Maybe the answer will come to you in the eastern wind.

  4. “We are monitoring the situation closely” sounds a lot like “We will watch and say/do nothing when a big and powerful country tramples over smaller an weaker countries”.

Disappointing to say the least. Expected more from a country like Finland.

Theres a dictator threatening our people with his actions and he is unlawfully elected. Lets unilaterally start an illegal military operation to decapitate the said countrys leadership and bring salvation to the local people. The target country just happens to have lots of natural resources.

Was this Russia or the US?

I hate Russia with everything I got but these double standards make me nauseous, and sort of take the floor from judging Russias original intentions. When theres no need for any validation for military action, anyone with a big enough gun can call anyone a dictator and just invade.

  6. He’s being pragmatic, can’t expect presidents just shouting whatever is trending on twitter currently. Some people really need to chill with the idealism and remember national interests are first priority.

Very disappointing. (in EU) Only France has the balls to say things as they are. This is too comformist.

In fluent diplomatese: the ratbastard got removed. Woo! Us fucked up tho, that wasnt cool!

Hope US doesnt cock it up. Actual democracy would be nice

Like I said before. It is all about the oil but this is how Finland should react given it’s security situation. We condemn warmongering in all fronts but this is how we as a small Eastern European and a fresh NATO member need to react. Alex played his part in favor of our country as he should. I hate that world is in this state of waging war and all of it is unnecessary. I hope as they rob the oil from Venezuelan soil they also make sure there is a democratic election that follows. It is another shit show but in a sense it was effective. They acquired their target in matter of days. Unlike the “special military operation” that is for the ridicule of Russia and is a symbol of Ukrainian bravery. This is the difference when you have a professionally acting army instead of orcs with guns.

“We are monitoring the situation closely”

Ok so Stubb takes the whole “please leave a like and subscribe” very seriously. Good to know

Professional, career politician garbage from a milquetoast little piece of shit.

  12. Its funny how everyone forgets the numerous coups and coup attemts US have made to Venezuela, and the fact tgat things are a bit messed up there directly because CIA doing their thing.

Its all about oil and the trumps Venezuela policy is exactly the same as every US president before him, same with his Israel policy. Its funny how trumpters think that trump is any different, other than in words and not important things.

It is interesting how little attention the media pays to Venezuela, almost as if nothing had happened.

Love to see a bunch of first worlder defending a dictator, torturer, and murderer. God Save America, thanks President Trump and down with Maduro. Anda a bailar salsa a Nueva York mamaguevo

Basically the same shit putin is saying to justify his move on Ukraine but if the west (US) does it, it’s okay. Nothing new just the usual bullshit. Good lapdogs in EU

Well, this lightly worded admonishment was carefully crafted. You don’t provoke a bully 100times your size but you do undermine him every chance you get. Finland has experience in this

  17. Maduro ignored international law for years, and now he’s suddenly trying to use that same law as a shield to protect himself.

What’s ironic is that many countries are openly relieved he is gone and are already talking about the need for new leadership, while simultaneously insisting that international law was violated. It’s a strange mix of condemnation and quiet approval.

  18. Just like in 1939 Paasikivi realised that when it comes to super powers like USA, China, USSR etc, moral arguments weight next to nothing. It was clear during the 20’s andn 30’s that the League of Nations had failed and USSR revealed itself to be just as imperialistic as the Russia prior to the revolution. These are the times when small nations need to fasten their seatbelts. Luckily Finland is not alone anymore.

  19. While fascism rises around the world and democracy, the rule of law and consent amongst nations declines, what do our neoliberal world leaders do? Wring their hands, refuse to condemn it and make empty statements.

Oh of course when there are people who actually stand up for such principles, who are willing to fight back, they’ll happily condemn *them.*

Neoliberals are sleepwalking us into the end of democracy.

  20. Maybe more emphasis on sanctioning the Israeli regime who has been committing more crimes in one day than Maduro ever committed in his lifetime.
