In response to the US attack on Venezuela on the 4th, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi posted on her Twitter account (formerly known as X) that "Japan will continue diplomatic efforts to restore democracy and stabilize the situation in Venezuela." She also emphasized that Japan has always respected fundamental values and principles such as freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. She did not comment on the merits of the attack. Opposition parties expressed concern that "the US has gone too far" (Constitutional Democratic Party leader Yoshihiko Noda).
Takaichi's post on X. (translation mine)
In response to the incident in Venezuela, as a Japanese govenment, I have instructed to put the highest priority on safety of Japanese nations while working closely with relevant countries.
With regard to the situation in Venezuela, the Government of Japan has previously stressed the importance of restoring democracy to Venezuela as soon as possible.
Japan has from the past respected fundamental values and principles such as freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.
Based on this position, the Government of Japan will continue to work closely with relevant countries, including the G7 and regional countries, to take all possible measures to protect Japanese nationals, and will also advance diplomatic efforts towards the restoration of democracy and stabilization of the situation in Venezuela.

That’s polispeak alright lol
**“Stability”is just polite silence**
Hard to criticize the US when your security umbrella and tariff negotiations are on the line.
It sucks when a superpower is out creating chaos and there’s no real effort to hold them accountable.
If you don’t criticize the US for this, you don’t get to criticize Taiwan.
Food for thought:
If China pull off the same kidnapping stunt to free Taiwanese from warmongering Lai Ching-te, what would be Takaichi’s response that will not get slap back in the face by China that “the US did that and you’re totally ok with it. No worry we’ll ensure stability and peaceful reunification after this”?
Taiwan next mark my words… I think after Putin this attack is just a free hand to china
Can’t really say shit about Taiwan now then can she.
Taiwan doesn’t have a narco dictator president that usurped the will of the people and refused to step down after losing the election in a landslide. We can debate the legality of what happened, but going against the will of the Venezuelan people who are out in the millions celebrating this only drives a wedge between them and the left. This might have been done the wrong way but it is a win either way for the people, that simply wouldn’t be true for someplace like Taiwan.
“Japan has from the past respected fundamental values and principles such as freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.”
So why has the LDP long failed to embrace, embody, or enforce these fundamental values and principles ❓
Thats cause she’s our friend.
This strong ultranationalist loves her country and its sovereignty so much that she is afraid to even whisper a voice of dissent in America’s direction.
All of these Nippon Kaigi joining, Yasukuni visiting, banzai charge screaming, *utsukushi Nihon* believing “nationalist” types are at the core dutiful servants of the American empire who know their place. Cowards and frauds.
