I used to work with some people from Nordic countries and even several years ago they’d say they wanted to work in the US for a few years for the money (they planned to save as much as possible while working in the US for 5-10 years), but ultimately planned to move back to their home countries to start families due to the benefits and social safety net. In the meantime, they could always hop back on a plane to get healthcare in their home country if they suddenly got diagnosed with a serious illness or lost their job.
