Rural Prokator: János Kádár also told the truth more often than Viktor Orbán of the last decade

In an interview with Válasz Online, the former Fidesz-conservative small-town lawyer, known under the pseudonym “Vidéki Prókátor”, claims that if the presidential pardon granted to the pedophile facilitator is not removed in a Curia decision on February 1, 2024, today we would be facing the spring elections in a completely different political situation. He does not tell his own role as a heroic story, but rather as a routine task: he regularly reads court decisions, and this case came to him “only” because the review procedure continued despite the pardon. According to him, Endre Kónya’s decision (not withdrawing the review) was also a key element in this, because without him the case probably would not have become public.

He keeps his incognito because he is satisfied with his private life and professional independence, and he does not want his work as a lawyer to be burdened by political harassment, a flood of messages, or public appearances. He also does not consider it impossible that those in power know who he is, but he claims that this does not particularly concern him. In connection with the pardon case, according to him, conspiracy theories have a hard time catching on because the events are documented and “too clear”.

One of the main threads of the conversation is how he got to the point where he left Fidesz before 2010: he describes how the local community was increasingly “hungry for booty” and driven to progress and get rich by figures who had nothing to do with the bourgeois-conservative ideal or the rule of law.

In the post-2010 system, the most alarming thing for him as a lawyer is that, according to him, the leaders do not consider the rules binding on themselves, and court decisions are bypassed or ignored. He also talks about the social consequences: he believes that continuous propaganda, incitement and cynicism are also mentally destructive, which is why he personally tries to stay away from the Prime Minister’s speeches. This is where his provocative claim comes from: at the beginning of 2026, according to him, “János Kádár told the truth more often” than Viktor Orbán in the past decade.

He is particularly strong about Péter Magyar: he considers him a “political genius”, which is why he was able to become a real challenger in a short time without any financial background. At the same time, he does not idealize: he says that he does not know what he would use his power for, which is why he himself prefers multi-party brakes, not a single-party two-thirds – yet he claims that he would vote for Tisza both individually and on a list, “he does not use tactics”.

According to him, the restoration of the rule of law would basically be made possible by institutional personnel exchanges, constitutional roles and (ideally) two-thirds authorization; rejects “half-solutions” due to the risk of legal chaos. In the end, he describes the election as a moral stake: according to him, in the campaign, truth is opposed to lies, and it is not parties, but Hungarian society that determines the extent to which it can still be influenced by “obvious” manipulation.
