Canada claimed the top spot in Group B by dropping just a single point of the available 12, but the coaching staff didn’t like how close some of the games were to get there. Allowing five goals to the Czechs in the tournament opener and then four to Finland with that top spot on the line, Carter George currently holds the lowest save percentage in the tournament. For the single-elimination quarter-final, Jack Ivankovic will step into the crease for the second time.
Slovakia threatened to upset Team USA a couple of days ago by getting out to a 3-1 lead before the Americans recovered, and all of their losses were by just a single goal. That was too close a margin for Canada to not have the best option in net.
So far Canada has outscored any goaltending and defensive issues, led by a line of Michael Hage, Gavin McKenna, and Brady Martin and backed up by the dynamic Zayne Parekh. All four skaters are sure to feature prominently in this fourth quarter-final.
