  1. Another source as well to add info the article doesn’t include(NYTimes):

”Cuban state media reported that 32 Cubans were killed in the U.S. attacks in Venezuela on Saturday. President Miguel Díaz-Canel of Cuba said the people were from Cuba’s armed forces or its interior ministry, on a mission at the request of Venezuela, according to state media. “Our compatriots fulfilled their duty with dignity and heroism and fell, after fierce resistance, in direct combat against the attackers or as a result of the bombings,” Díaz-Canel said. He announced two days of mourning.

The revelation was an exceptional public admission by Cuba that its soldiers are in Venezuela [https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01/04/world/trump-us-venezuela-maduro/1a296ebe-2afd-5c62-a17c-0a782d9f97aa?smid=url-share](https://www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01/04/world/trump-us-venezuela-maduro/1a296ebe-2afd-5c62-a17c-0a782d9f97aa?smid=url-share)

  2. Interestingly if you look it up, Wagner [Russia] *was* protecting Maduro. But I’ve seen no confirmation that they were actually there at the moment of truth.

  3. Venezuela relies on Cuba for oppressive state level security. Cuba relies on Venezuela for oil. Taking Maduro might not have been the only objective

Russia has Wagner in Venezuela too. Venezuela brought them in along with Cuban operatives to help with their repression. Unlike Cuban gaurds, it appears Russians didn’t want to be target practice to protect Maduro as he sleeps in his royal quarters.

  5. Remember about that next time they complain about “foreign interference” on Venezuela

  6. I’m guessing we’ll see more of that when it happens in Cuba. Only thing is – who is running Cuba again? The Castro brothers are long gone.

Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Makes you think 🤔

  8. The Cuban regime is going next….

Rubio will consider that this greatest moment of his life.

  9. Would Venezuelan generals performing a palace coup be all that sad about the Cuban Praetorian Guard getting taken out by Delta Force?

Or view it more as a problem solved?

  10. I hope with this people understand how much corrupt was Maduro dictatorship

We are giving a lot of resourses to Cuba for nothing, only fanatism

Because fanatism, thats kinda a know fact by Venezuelans

Btw: I don’t know if there was a better way to share the links on Reddit but basicaly, in the military forts there is always a Cuban and Venezuela flag

    Also in Chávez mausoleum

And in Maduro and Chávez spechees múltiple times they exiibit an Cuban flag

(Chávez múltiple times took pics kissing the Cuban flag)

These people soldout/dickrider to this goverment who gsve nothing (at least China has a lot to offer but Cuba?)

I guess beating and shooting unarmed protestors doesn’t quite prepare you for Delta Force operators.

  12. Pretty wild that he had to resort to Cubans to try and hold onto power. Dude should have done the standard dictator thing and flown off to eastern europe with a billion dollars.

  13. Imagine your security team was 90% made up of another countries people. Says a lot about how well liked you are in your own country.

  14. Remember, every time media says “Cuba says” when actually refering to the dictatorship’s voice, they are whitewashing it. The dictatorship does not speak for the people of Cuba.

  15. Russian air defence and Cuban bodyguards.

Two things not to invest in if you’re a South American dictator.
