Hello, I want to share a recent situation that I think deserves a wider discussion.
An acquaintance of mine noticed that one student of Indian origin, currently living in Vilnius and studying at Vilnius University, shared images of Putin being publicly welcomed and praised in India in his Facebook stories. At first we looked at it with humor, but later we realized that such things raise serious questions about our national security and respect for the country’s values.
Why is this important?
Putin is not a friend of Lithuania. His regime is responsible for genocide in Ukraine, for war, for hybrid attacks against Lithuania and our allies.
Public glorification is a threat. Even if one seeks to show friendship between India and Russia, here in Lithuania, such gestures are perceived as disrespect and a potential threat.
Context is essential. Living in Lithuania, studying at our university, a person becomes a part of our community. This means that he must be conscious of what he shares publicly and understand how it affects those around him.
My aim is not to incite xenophobia or mistrust of newcomers. I myself am the son of an emigrant, I have many acquaintances from different countries of the world. However, my duty as a Lithuanian is to inform, raise questions and protect the security of our country. Lithuania is a small country, but our freedom is precious and we must defend it both externally and internally.
What should we do?
Let’s be vigilant. Let us not forget that the enemy feeds on our emotions, fears and indifference.
Let’s discuss. Let’s talk to our guests, explain the context, let’s not let them live in a bubble of misinformation.
Let’s keep the respect. Even when criticizing, we must remain diplomatic and dignified – this is our strength.
Let’s not forget internal security. While we strengthen our external defenses, we must not forget that internally we must also be resistant to propaganda and provocations.
After this discussion, that person blocked me. It just shows that he missed the point and it is our duty to speak up, raise questions and not let such attitudes go unnoticed.
In conclusion, security is, must be and always will be the priority of our country. Let’s be united, dignified and responsible. Let’s not let the enemy erase us from the history books! 🇱🇹

Tavo pasiūlymas diskutuoti ir paaiškinti kontekstą yra grynų gryniausias cope. Tu galvoji, kad jie nežino? Jie viską žino, jiems tiesiog visiškai dzin.
Tokius svečius reikia ne edukuoti, o statyti į vietą administracinėmis priemonėmis arba tiesiog rodyti duris. Jei nesugebi gerbti šalies, kurioje mokaisi, saugumo, esi tiesiog liability.

Visąlaik sakau, kad importas trečio pasaulio yra savižudybė Europai, viena iš priežasčių kodėl, tai dauguma jų myli rasyją.
I don’t disagree but I’d like to change your wording a little. Foreign students aren’t responsible for representing the values of the host country, on the contrary they’re supposed to be a good representation of their home country (make them look good so people here might have better opinions of them. Same thing if say a Lithuanian was going to go study in the USA. They’re under no obligation to represent America while they’re there and why should they be? They’re not American. They should however, be cognizant and respectful of the beliefs/customs of the locals because they are guests, and the locals are under no obligation to be respectful to them if they cross that line.
TLDR: Foreign students are representatives of their home countries but should still be respectful of the local values.
Edit: The beliefs/values of a countries government are not always reflective of those of the individual. Especially not in a country of over a billion people with 22 languages.

Kiek tokių yra atvykę yra geresnis klausimas iš tų 200k+
Indija draugiška su ruzija, nes tik jie palaikė Indiją, kai nuo pastarųjų atsiskyrė Pakistanas. Visas “vakarų” pasaulis stojo Pakistano pusėje. Kurie teisesni – nežinau, Indija Pakistaną laiko tokia pat atskilusia dalim, kaip Ukrainai yra Krymas ar Donbasas. Anyway, todėl turim ką turim ir manyčiau dar reiktų džiaugtis, kad Indija balansuoja, o ne pilnai brenda su ruzija kartu į purvą.
O tokie imigrantai karo atveju greičiausiai taptų ruzkių/žemaitaičio koloborantais. Deportuot reiktų ir tiek. Ne visus, bet tokius šlovintojus taip.
Akivaizdu, kad jam nusispjaut. Jei jam nusispjaut ant mūsų šalies vertybių, mums gali būt nusispjaut ant jo. Galėtų už tokius dalykus tiesiog deportuot. Pareportink migracijai, bet abejoju, kad kažką darys.
Galėtų ir vatnikus 35+ metus Lietuvoje gyvenančius, vos veblenančius lietuviškai ir viešai čiulpiančius Putino bybį išmest iš šalies. Gaila nėra, kur tokius reportint.. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Turėtų suprast indukas, kad ruskiams giliai px ant jo šalies. Viskas dėl išskaičiavimo. Matom, kaip ruskiai rūpinasi savo draugeliais. 😀 Eilinis durnius ir tiek.
Aš esu už tai, kad tokiam indui (puodui lol) būtų atimta viza. Dėl to problemos nematau.
Tačiau, man neaiški logika – VU deklaruoja nuomonių įvairovę, ir tada atsiranda viešai reiškiamos pozicijos, su kuriomis didelė dalis visuomenės, tame tarpe ir aš, nesutinka.
Dar labiau glumina tai, kad Lietuvoje yra politikų, kurie viešai reiškia iš esmės tokias pačias prorusiškas pozicijas, ir tai tarsi toleruojama dalies visuomenės (Žemaitaitis, Vaitkus (tas žilas, plonas lopas, kur bandė prezidentu tapt)).
Todėl man kyla prieštara – arba mes pripažįstame, kad yra nuomonių ribos, arba jų nėra.
Aš nenoriu absoliučios žodžio laisvės, kai, pavyzdžiui, su ruskių vėliavomis būtų leidžiami mitingai dėl karo Ukrainoje Katedros aikštėje palaikymo.
Mano mintis paprasta – jeigu neleidžiame vieniems – turime neleisti visiems.

Sveikintinas proaktyvumas iš tavo pusės tai pastebėti ir civilizuotai sureaguoti. Ir kaip daug kas minėjo, raginu sukontaktuoti su universitetu, manau tokie dalykai tikrai jautrūs ir svarbūs, kad jau įsitikinai, kad jis yra Lietuvoje ir ten mokosi.
