  1. Greenland’s PM Jens Frederik Nielsen firmly rejected US President Trump’s repeated comments on US possibly annexing Greenland, asking for dialogue and respect for international law.

“That’s enough now,” Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen said after repeated threats from US President Donald Trump to annex the autonomous Danish territory.

“No more pressure. No more insinuations. No more fantasies of annexation, Nielsen wrote on Facebook late Sunday.

“We are open to dialogue. We are open to discussions. But this must happen through the proper channels and with respect for international law,” the head of Greenland’s government said.

Washington’s unprecedented operation in Venezuela resulting in the capture of Nicolas Maduro has reignited fears for Greenland, which Trump has said he wants to annex, given its strategic location in the Arctic.

On Sunday, Trump doubled down on his claim that Greenland should become part of the United States, despite calls by the leaders of Denmark and Greenland — the Kingdom of Denmark’s autonomous territory — to stop “threatening” the territory.

While aboard Air Force One en route to Washington, Trump reiterated the goal.

“We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security, and Denmark is not going to be able to do it,” he said in response to a reporter’s question.

“You know what Denmark did recently to boost up security in Greenland? They added one more dog sled. It’s true. They thought that was a great move,” Trump said.

“We’ll worry about Greenland in about two months … let’s talk about Greenland in 20 days.”

Over the weekend, the Danish prime minister called on Washington to stop “threatening its historical ally”.

“I have to say this very clearly to the United States: it is absolutely absurd to say that the United States should take control of Greenland,” Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a statement.

She also noted that Denmark — “and thus Greenland” — was a NATO member protected by the agreement’s security guarantees.

Hopefully they will have enough time to prepare for Usa aggression and hostility even invasion

  3. There isn’t much, that can be done. The only hope is, that Trump won’t annex Greenland. No European army would fight the Americans.

Venezuela was about to destroy the petro dollar by signing a deal to exclusively trade in brics currency.

The Chinese delegation was literally in Venezuela when the us navy kidnapped him.

If the USA didn’t kidnap him their dollar would have risked collapse.

That’s how pathetic the world has become if not always was.

I’m teaching my kids mandarin. Not that the other sides grass will be much greener…..

Dear Greenland stop doing mineral surveys lol

US government is using Boiling frog strategy.

Giving out statements about taking over Greenland, then gradually increasing the intensity of its statements. Bullying the EU on their face .

It is observing how Europe is reacting, they are normalising and conditioning Europeans to this event and by the time when it does happens there won’t be any significant reaction from Europe .

Europe should shed it’s soft image , shed those diplomatic words and condemnation and start taking hard actions to send an appropriate message to deter US .

  6. This type of response really tells you about the character sitting in front. Someone unable to get no for an answer, someone for whom consent never matter, neither personally neither professionally.

  7. Incredibly weak statement. Ban all sales of Ozempic to America today, hit them where it hurts.

  8. I am really eager to see how the “enlightened” centrists of the EU will react to an actual occupation of Greenland.

Those of the likes of Von der Leyen, who are cheering about Maduro’s kidnapping and the “democratic transition” (lol) , will they short-circuit, or will they bow once again to Pharaoh Trump?

  9. >“You know what Denmark did recently to boost up security in Greenland? They added one more dog sled. It’s true. They thought that was a great move,” Trump said.

    >”We’ll worry about Greenland in about two months … let’s talk about Greenland in 20 days.”

Way to talk about an (ex?) ally…

Attacking Greenland is the way for the american far right to break NATO and advance their projects of ideological and colonial rule over Europe. If the US Congress does not stop this and votes on a law prohibiting any action of any kind against Greenland, then it means they are traitors to the alliance.

If a so-called “pro-Atlanticist” GOP + Dems in the congress prove unwilling to draw a fucking line before the neofascist regime in the White House, then it means that NATO is all but dead for ever after, even should this orange garbage die from a stroke 2 months from now and JD Vance die crushed under a sofa.

  11. I’ve said this in a few other subs already. I think leaving NATO would have to be the first step before aggression against Greenland.

And I think Trump and his puppeteers are ready to do that.

We have a problem with european liberal democrat mentality. We have this notion that we have to tolerate complete nonsense and bs. We have this insane belief that our only recourse is strong worded letters and words.
Every time this orange moron opens his mouth we as a united EU should flood the market with US bonds. It worked with Canada their pm actively went to allies and asked to flood the market with bonds. Trump was very very quiet after that. We need to do that if he acts like an animal we should treat him with a stick like an animal.

  13. Not gonna touch on whether the Cheeto in charge is actually serious, or just forgot his morning meds again and is spewing whatever in the interwebs.

However, I both hope and firmly believe that should that happen, at least the Nordic countries would rally to support Denmark.

The feeling of kinship is strong among the Nordic countries – the support even for Ukraine is already high in them, and Ukraine isn’t “one of the lads”, in any metric except for the Finns feeling a disturbing deja-vu about Russia.

Edit: and I do also believe that at least in Finland, should our government only go for “thoughts and prayers”, should Greenland get invaded, that government wouldn’t survive the next vote of distrust.

Defence against whom? What enemy will be stopped by the US controlling Greenland? Russia?

  15. We should be sending troops from UK, France, Germany etc on an exercise in Greenland. Just to send a message

  16. We need to put sanctions on US and to organize a serious defense plan over Greenland. Also, I think having US bases and military personnel on our soil should be totally reconsidered. Trump isn’t bluffing.

The poor guy is still in denial. This isn’t about ‘collaboration’, it’s about taking other people’s shit because they will do fuck all about it.

  18. Hughley_N_Dowd on

The argument that Greenland’s location is strategically important to the US holds so little water these days. It *was* during the cold war, to fend of the Soviets in case of an attack, but given that Trump is *firmly* in Russia’s pocket…nah!

It all comes down to resources, boys and girls. Oligarchs has to be sated, pockets has to be lined.

It’s a beautiful day down here in Vermont. Only -3!

I can only speak for myself and people I know, but we don’t support any US invasion or interference with Greenland. 🇬🇱 peace from your New England neighbor!

  20. They’ve showed their hand now. They’re going to be stretching their military resources awfully thin to invade 5 countries.

  21. MeNamIzGraephen on

The Americans under Trump wang Greenland for it’s vast mjneral resources and to control the routes through atlantic
What EU should dk jn the case of Americans annexing Greenland, is immediate sanctions on government officials in GoP, sanctions on medications, military equipment and cancellation of U.S. Army bases in Europe.

As a Greek, I always thought that if NATO vs NATO war were to happen, it would be Greece and Turkey.

Never imagined it would be USA vs… Denmark

  23. Comfortable-Exit8924 on

so…what can he do if they decide to fly him away like maduro, will they post a strong condemning statement? a bully only understands the language of force.

  24. EngineerNo2650 on

The Greenlanders should demand the support of native populations in the US, just to make noise and make Americans understand this is madness.

  25. Antique_Ear447 on

The EU needs a comprehensive nuclear deterrence strategy at this point or we will keep getting bullied like this. We already are under a massive threat today and it’s only going to get worse in the coming years.

  26. As a Norwegian with a Danish mother I’m done with the US, it’s time we start blocking tourism from the US and building a digital infrastructure entirely independent of American technologies

As for the US, either Trump dies and MAGA implodes in the aftermath, or a civil war could be the best thing for the world

In my relatively short years, the US has never acted this belligerent

  27. does he understand that he is talking to a person who doesnt understand No means No. and openly said so

  28. Nepridiprav16 on

Trump literally said “Let’s talk about Greenland in 20 days.” timed for his inauguration anniversary.

At this point I’d give it 40% chance US will force some kind of unilateral “protection” mandate (essentially a soft annexation).

  29. Fortunately Trump doesn’t know him, otherwise we would get 3 AM rage tweets (the time when he doesn’t nap).
