A Kosovar citizen, internationally wanted by Lithuanian authorities, has been arrested at the Morina border crossing, while attempting to enter the territory of the Republic of Albania.
According to the State Police announcement, the arrest was carried out by the Morinë Border Police services, in cooperation with the Kukës DVP, during increased controls at the entrance and exit of the country.
“As a result of selective controls and entry/exit checks, with the objective of cracking down on illegalities at the border and apprehending wanted citizens, citizen BK was apprehended and arrested for extradition purposes,” the State Police announced.
The arrested person is BK, 39 years old, resident of Kosovo. From the verifications carried out and the information exchanged with Interpol Tirana, it has resulted that he was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Vilnius.
“The Vilnius Court has sentenced this citizen to 2 years and 3 months in prison, for the criminal offense of ‘Negligible harm to health, threat to kill or cause serious harm to a person’,” the announcement further states.
Currently, Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Lithuanian authorities, is following legal procedures for the extradition of the 39-year-old to Lithuania. /Telegrafi/
