USA (Germany) and Russia (USSR) agreed to divide Europe (Poland) among themselves and began invasion from both fronts but than the former turns on the latter out of bloated ambitions and the underdog is helped by other nations, like China and co. Buried but whatever, the “unification” would mean us to get rid of the US and Chinese dependecies, and building our own manufacturing, tech and defence. We have done absolutely nothing during the war in Ukraine.
US has so massive leverage on Europe via the IT only, that they could send us to stone age without single boot on ground. Every somewhat meaningful company in the EU is depending on US IT, not only software and devices, but infra and services too. The little defence tech we have, is also depending on US components and IT. If Trump would say they will invade whole Denmark, we couldn’t do a thing about it.
Then there is China, which is simpler on the other hand, more complex on other. We can’t actually ramp up the manufacturing on similar level they have without massive changes and sacrifices, which we are not willing to make. Every EU country thinks it’s the other countries that should make the sacrifice, not us.
I don’t believe some proper “unification” will ever happen, so the EU will be pretty much meaningless in the future, and that will have an impact to the lives of the regular people on many fronts.
