The order published in Diário da República authorises the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Coimbra Francisco Gentil (IPOLFG) to assume a cost of €11,588,420.73, plus VAT at the legal rate, for the implementation of the project “Acquisition of heavy medical equipment and robotic surgical system”.

The project is part of the sub-measure “Acquisition of heavy medical equipment and robotic surgical systems for SNS Health Units”, which is included in the “SNS Technological Modernisation Programme” investment, under Component 1 of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Lisbon Francisco Gentil (IPOLFG) is authorised to assume a charge this year up to a maximum total amount of €4,920,000.00 to implement the project ‘Plan for the Acquisition of Heavy Equipment IPOLFG’, according to the order signed by the Secretary of State for Health Management, Francisco Gonçalves.

This project is part of the sub-measure ‘Acquisition of heavy medical equipment and robotic surgical systems for the SNS Health Units in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region’, which falls under the Investment ‘Construction of the Lisbon Eastern Hospital and equipment for hospitals in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley’.

The financing of the projects comes within the context of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, designed to support Portugal in responding to the public health emergency caused by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and to mitigate the resulting social and economic impacts.

“The European Union, aware of the severity of the pandemic crisis and its profound effects on the different Member States, promoted a collective and concerted response, with the Member States simultaneously agreeing on the Multiannual Financial Framework for the period 2021-2027 and the European recovery instrument, known as Next Generation EU, at the European Council in July 2020,” reads the order.
